Elephant Foraging on the Zambezi Bank, Chirundu

Description

An African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) grazing in the tall, green reeds along the banks of the Zambezi River at Chirundu, Zimbabwe. Captured in 2017, this mid-range shot highlights the rich riverine habitat and the elephant’s dextrous use of its trunk to forage among the lush grasses. The soft afternoon light and the proximity to the water create a peaceful, documentary-style portrait of daily life in the Zambezi Valley.
