Hamerkop Foraging at uMkhuze Game Reserve

A Hamerkop (Scopus umbretta) wading along the shoreline in uMkhuze Game Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal. This unique bird is easily identified by its "hammer-shaped" head and dark brown plumage. Photographed with a Nikon D3200, the image captures this master builder in its natural wetland habitat within the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife park.
