Walking on Water: The African Jacana at Nsumo Pan

The African Jacana, or "Lily Trotter," is a true marvel of the KZN wetlands. Captured at Nsumo Pan in the uMkhuze region, this image showcases the bird’s incredibly long toes, which allow it to distribute its weight and "walk" across floating vegetation. The rich chestnut plumage and striking blue frontal shield make it one of the most vibrant and charismatic species found in the Maputaland pans.
